Piebald Deer

I did not take the pictures. They were sent to me by a friend. They were taken in the USA or so I am told.

The term 'piebald,' used to identify a whitetail deer with at least one extra splotch of white

here. OH and I were quietly sitting on our balcony sipping coffee when I looked up and saw the thing practically on top of us. Just had time to close my eyes through the worst of it. Result: gritty coffee and a house full of dust!

I've been out planting quite a lot this week and have seen 2 different mice in the garden. One mouse was brown and one was grey, both the same size and definitely not a fieldmouse. Can anyone, especially cat lovers, know the difference? Please don't say the colour.

As I was taking a photo of my pot pig in the front garden (and noting the weeds!) I caught a pic of this beautiful butterfly (a peacock?) sitting on a dandelion. Absolutely beautiful, but I thought these weren't out until about May time?

Inspired by Saphs photo of a magpie i thought i would post a few shots of one of my favourite birds though not every ones cup of tea. The closer you look at the bird the more colorful it is. These were taking a few weeks ago.

In my part of the world, one of the first signs of spring is the reappearance of robins that have migrated back up
from the south. Today while looking out the window at one of the worst snow storms we've had here all
winter, I saw several robins. The oft photographed holly bush has attracted them in this awful weather. They are
bug and berry eaters, so I'm so glad that my little holly bush is well covered in berries for them.
