and usually if they have your bag they have the keys to both your car and your house and there is probably something in the bag with your address on so they can come around and pillage and rape. Or they might come around and say "I found your bag" and you are so grateful you ask them in for a cuppa, which makes the P & R even easier. The risks in venturing outside your door, or even staying inside it, are endless and if we aren't careful we will become paranoid about nasty...

Re:In an emergency.... many of my chums and me too have put ICE as the 'address' in the mobile an then listed the number of whoever should be connected in In Case Of Emergency. My paramedic friends say that they are told to look for this. It keeps the relationship unknown to others. As I can remember my home phone number I never list it and that way the theif cannot cross check.

Useful advice Cwm but there would be not good them phoning Mick as he hasn't got a clue about my pin nos ... only his own and anyway there wouldn't be much for a thief to get out of our current bank account

Good advice Cwm. I can hardly remember my pin no. I actually remember it as a pattern on the keyboard. This was because once I was so tired and stressed I just couldn't remember it... for a week.

It is a very valid point , but we don't share pin numbers either, and the downside of not listing at least one relation by name hubby etc is in an emergency , if the services have to go through your names to contact someone

It occurs to me also that having a shared pin number is pretty daft. OH and I have a joint account but not a joint pin number - I don't know his and I shouldn't think that knows mine.

It does, though, seem sensible not to advertise the relationships with the people listed in your mobile - and I hadn't thought about it before either.

Oh, and we have a limit here on how much can be withdrawn in a week without making special arrangements, let alone in a day!

It occurs to me though that there couldn't have been much in the account. If the thief used an ATM there is a fairly low limit for how much you can draw in a single day. To clear the account in the bank would require a signature and I am sure they would have checked it.

20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had...
