Do have a go doing it by uploading to Yuku, Mammaj - much, much, easier. Once uploaded you simply click on the image to put it in a posting.

At least you can get pics on here I've tried & failed but I feel a surge of intelligence coming over me so I'll have another go but don't hold your breath!

Your plant is definately an opuntia microdasys, it looks a nice healthy plant if a bit narrow at the base & that may make it fall over. I wonder if it has been shaded when small as that can make them grow taller & thinner searching for light. The pads can easily be removed & planted up to make more...

Great pictures Ally! It looks like a wonderful cactus, too bad it seems to have taken a personal dislike to you.

Unless someone has fixed the size since you posted them, they are a perfect. Mammj sould be able identify them from those pictures if she knows what kind it is.

Hi Mammaj. Sorry it took so long, but here are a couple of shots of grumpy cactus that my daughter took, hope they turn out ok, and you can actually see what it is. Thanks so much for trying to do this. While i was getting it somewhere, where it would 'show up' best for a photo, a got a couple of the spikey things on me, even though i was holding it at arms length. Stupid thing, don't know what it thinks i'm going to do to it !

It might be an opuntia microdasys ( I don't know if you've put a pic but I haven't seen one) does it have flattish pads & circular patches of raised spines. If so they are very easily detatched but fairly easy to remove if you wipe them away from the side. I have one & I love it, it grows quite quickly but they take a while to flower

They are tricky little critters really, aren't they? I bought one about 2 months ago, and carried it home in the middle pocket of my car next to the driving seat. While at some traffic lights waiting, i picked it up, and POOF next thing i'm covered in these little tiny 'spory' type things with small spines...all over me, and by the time i got home i was going mad with the itch. It was put out the back where no one could see it, or touch it, and there it...

Put it outside Ally, I'm no expert but most of mine flower ( over 100 between cacti & succulents), they don't all like the midday sun tho. Some need to get to a certain size before flowering but they all do better when outside

Lovely Scotty. Cacti flowers are spectacular.
I've got quite a few cacti, which i keep on my kitchen windowsill, and they grow like mad, but so far after about 5 years, not a flower in site. Two of them i've had for over 20 years, and they have flowered occasionally, but trying to put a name to them is so hard. I've looked all of my cacti up times on the specialist web sites, but it is very confusing, and none of what matches is certain.
