I dump all my cookies about twice a year and rebuild, allowing just the ones I want. The system I use controls cookies pretty well but there is always a few I
let in by accident. Means signing in again at the sites where you usually don't have to, but it is only the once.

I agree with all that Pauline said. Cookies that allow you to go into a regularly visited site without logging in each time, (IE RG), are fine, but the
tracking cookies found by AdAware I always ask AdAware to delete. They aren't usually a danger but they are not necessary either.

I don't worry about them, myself, but I have Ccleaner set to run at startup. I have it configured to keep the cookies I want (the ones that keep me
logged in - and to leave my Microsoft Office settings alone) and it bins the rest, along with all the temporary files.

I found this nicely non-hysterical bit of info on cookies:

A cookie is a plain txt file that sits on your computer in a temporary folder...

It's difficult to say without knowing what they were called, but the short answer is, delete cookies unless you know what they're for.

Some can be usefull; for example some let you stay logged into your favourite website's. Some can be used to track what you are doing online and you may
not want that.

I always delete cookies, 'cos I know all my user-names and passwords.
