Posts: 0 20-01-04 00:27	Tags : None Ok, let's see if you help with these, please. No 1 Think it's a member of the Salix family, but the 'catkins' seem big - 6/7 inches maybe longer! (see below). No 2 A bit more exotic this one; picture taken in one of West Dean's greenhouses in September last year - silly me lost the name of it! The color of the foliage is the key -not able to find one yet with burgundy foliage - I've found similar blooms but not the particular bicolor shown .Telopea aspera is one .But then where the form is right , the color is wrong. I was thinking if I did a search on the actual name of where you saw this , maybe entered in tropical plant list ?

Posts: 12897 21-01-04 22:27 Established Tree	I'm thinking it could be a Dryandra quercifolia or the Dryandra fililoba - could not find a photo of the second to be certain . The only thing that makes me think it wouldn't be the first is the flowers generally have some yellow somewhere in them .

Also sent an email with pic to my late Garden Guru's daughter with a pic as well as every succulent supplier that had an email that I could click on Billboard is next ! Seriously , someone did bring an interesting point that may help with the foliage area , Aloes and Agaves as well I do believe the foliage will turn colors ie:red during drought . Still haven't matched the flower as most of the above have yellow blooms and/or tubular in shape. still looking , haven't quit yet . I'm still reasonably young - I should find it within the next 50 years p.s. I did ask in the emails if they would have seeds

I've made it through the Aechmea - have a couple to look at more in depth . Undoubtedly the answer will be there in the photo database- Just let me know what genus you take
