Ok, after listening to a story line in the Archers I got to thinking (Ok its late I know

When birds die, where do they go?
There are thousands and thousands of birds flying around but the only dead ones I ever see are those killed by cats or cars., why, when I walk out my front door, do I not get hit by dead birds falling from the sky?
The streets of our cities are inundated with pidgeons, so surely there should be piles of dead ones (old age if nothing else).. but no not one. Why isn't Trafalgar Square a mortuary?

Maybe they only die at night.
