What do the Dutch eat please |
Lead | ||
|
We are having one of the gnomes work colleagues, round to supper next week, who is Dutch. Does anyone have any Dutch recipes, either main course, dessert or
even soup or a starter recipe. I have never heard of anything the Dutch eat. I could look something up on a cooking site (maybe) but something tried and tested
would be even better. Thank you in anticipation

When I was in Holland they seemed to be very big on lamb - eaten very rare.

He lives in Malaysia with his South American wife, and i thought just one dish would be a 'nice' thing to do. The Netherlands, really isn't famous
for cooking is it? I thank you all for your ideas, and i think i'll look it up. If i can't find anything, i'll perhaps do the Kangaroo Tail soup
with a warm emu and croc salad or as a last resort, perhaps a Shepherds pie, if i can get hold of some shepherds

I'd love you to come ChrisAnn, but it's probably a bit far for a bowl of soup, so here's the recipe 1 Roo tail 1 Tblsp Clarified Fat2 and quatar lt water 2 Tblsp Sago or Tapioca for thickening

Just to confirm, that is a genuine recipe, Ally isn't pulling your leg. Mind you, it isn't exactly something you would find on the menu of your
favourite restaurant or Take-Away. One of our local cafés serves croc burgers. Have never tried them, but think I might. I imagine it tastes like chicken, but
it is only a guess.

Swop some of our shepherds for some of your kangaroos, live ones tho. Do you want ready frozen shepherds? Be cheaper to send than a live one

I'll get the Roos sent express on Monday. I'd prefere fresh live shepherds if you have any, but if not frozen will do, and at worst tinned please. Can
you include the crooks all in for the one price, or are they seperate?

Crooks maybe difficult as they are hard to get through airport security as they are a well known offensive weapon in the welsh hills.

When I was there I remember bottled / tinned veggies. Very soft and over cooked. Edam cheese. Cold meats. French fries with mayo
