I asked OH to give me a hand in the garden earlier. He took one look at my burgeoning hydrangea arborescens and said "Ah - nettles!" The trouble is, I don't think he does this deliberately.

Plants disappear from my garden on a regular basis unless I stand over Ian. I came in to answer the 'phone this afternoon and when I went back outside
again he'd managed to dig up some of my ornamental grasses!!
Thankfully they still had their roots intact so I got him to replant them. He's much better, however, at edging and mowing the lawn and trimming trees.
Sometimes I think he digs up plants on purpose so that he doesn't have to weed the flower beds.

Ha! My s in l once said her OH was good about gardening, he'd say "there's an empty pot, why not buy a plant to put in it" I replied "My
OH when he sees an empty pot says " there's an empty pot, why not chuck it away" Say no more

Kev is the same Eileen. He digs up something and comes up to me with a big smile on his face waving the óffending´ plant - I do my best to tell him to put it back in my most patient and calm tones - he is a dab hand at edging the lawn though and turning the compost heap. ![]()

I can never let the OH free with a pair of secateurs....regardless of what the plant is it will be cut
back to a nubbin! This is usually performed either while the plant is in flower or when it is in bud. His usual excuse is that they like being cut back hard (I
should never have left him listening to Gardener's Question Time) this is from a man who can't tell a dandelion from his own elbow. I don't think
it is done on purpose.......hmmmmmmmmmmmm?

I watch my OH like a hawk in the garden, and any other well meaning friend who thinks they'll pull up the odd weed for me. No grass here but OH is excellent at keeping the paths and drive clear of weeds - oh and doing the heavy digging of course! Lass x |
