Carpic or carpal tunnel |

Anyone had or got this? Pins & needles at night caused by blood vessels & tendons being squashed, I have it in my right arm & should have it seen
to in about a month with a small op. Question - anyone had any luck getting rid of it without the op? I have some fluid retention & that may be what's
causing it so I'm trying out some pills to see if it'll help, anyone got any idea?

I tried for 2 years to get rid of it but as you say swollen hand and pin and needles etc. I had the op about 5 years ago under local anesthetic, and after a
month it was feeling great, he inside took a little longer and if I forgot and hit my hand on something it would be a dull pain, today I can't even see the
scar as they followed one of my lines I think they gave me 10 extra years on the life line. There is nothing to be afraid of 30 mins they took and I was fine.

I had Carpal tunnel a couple of times, from painting my house, it is also known as RSI. I think i must have had a much milder form, as
my cleared up with 'Brufen' which is a heavier form of Ipobrufen. I think if they have recommended an op. yours must be much worse, than i had it.

Thanks ladies, I'm not too worried about the op just that if there is a way round it then I'll have a go. I know it's only going to get worse if I
don't have it done.
Ally perhaps yours was a temporary form due to overwork! Now I must get the grass cut, finish planting my latest purchases, paint the bathroom etc before they call me!

I have carpel tunnel syndrome which is part of my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I didnt opt for the op as think it can reoccur. I wear wrist splints at night when mine
is bad and they help alot.

I know of people who have tried acupuncture and osteopathy with success but never suffered from it myself.

I've heard of using splints but as my dr is worse than useless just waiting for his pension now, he hasn't suggested anything apart from the op. I must
say it's getting a bit worse but I seem to be hitting my head against a wall. I think the pills can go in the bin for a start. Perhaps I'll nip down to
the osteo man & see what he says, at least he's young & motivated!

Thanks Lynne that was very useful, I'm definately going for the chop. My right hand is getting worse & worse & I can feel the left tingling as well
now. The funny thing is my eldest is studying this stuff & she told me what it was before I even saw a dr. I had the elctric shock test where she studies
& am now waiting for them to call me. I've just started an early menopause (arrgh) so I had some hope that it might go away on it's own but
it's just driving me potty!
