Flowering Annual Posts: 141 27-06-08 23:30	Everybody! Back on the net after a very relaxing holiday. It did both Elke and I the world of good. No Internet cafe anywhere near where we were - in fact the house we rented didn't even have a phone ( not a bad idea!) The weather was good to us since we only had 2 days when it rained, & even then it was only for a few hours. I've thrown together a few piccies to give you a general idea where we were and how we spent our days. This is the house we rented (brown roof). Their called "roof houses" cos the roof reaches down to the grass Friedrichskoog is truly a joggers paradise. You can run for miles on top of the Dikes. This was the Doggy beach.. These are the famous North German "Beach baskets" keeps out wind/rain etc, They even have a covered area for our 4 legged friends Friedrichskoog harbour has 31 crab cutters - the largest crab fleet on the West coast The local community is building a new sports arena in the shape of a huge whale (novel idea) The Noth Sea "Wattenmeer" is the largest wildlife nature reserve in middle Europe. 158,000 hectars. When the tide is out you think you could walk to Scotland! Most evenings end like this.... Photo taken at 2150hrs. St Peter Ording. Miles and miles of sand - and hardly any souls around. Can you believe their main season has already begun?? This is looking in the opposite direction. Looking back at the land. Finally, Gismo enjoying the waves... Hope you enjoyed the piccies. Unfortunately this is a short visit, being admitted to hospital on Sunday for approx 10-days. If they have Internet I'll be on-line Sunday nite! Ray ...

Lovely big beach for him to have the run of. 10 days in hospital is a long time. Poor you, hope all goes well. Hope there is a computer you can use, if not get hold of one of those Nintendo DS brain training things, if you haven't already got one. My girls bought me one for Mothers day, and it is very addictive, which is great, when it's something that's doing you good....or so it says. It certainly feels like it is. Thanks for the showing us the photos. How's your garden looking at home? (Good luck for the hospital )

It's packed here, not that I go as I'm not a great lover of sweating it out on the beach to burn & then turn white again!

Flowering Annual Posts: 142 28-06-08 18:39	Thanks for all the well wishes.. I'll keep you all posted how things go. The garden and Greenhouse looked pretty rough when we got home Ally, but after almost 2-days work it's back to looking somewhat respectable. The boys did exactly what we asked them to do - water the plants. The fact that the grass on the lawn was practically knee high didn't phase them one bit! I would mess around with a Nintendo DS "spin up your brain quicker than a 7200rpm hard drive" Ally. But the last one I had in my hands cost me 2-days to find the on/off switch Gismo is a Havaneser (Cuban silk dog) Bill. They are a bit bigger than a West Highland Terrier and look like an overgrown Malteser (like Ally has). He is of course our surrogate child He loved the sandy beaches... check this out.. Ray ...

Gismo seems to have had a whale of a time on that enormous stretch of beach. The sports arena is definately unusual isn't it? I hope all goes well for you during your stay in hospital. That place sure isn't going to get rich on tourists is it, if that's the height of the season. I like the notion of walking to Scotland. Looks like Gismo has the best time of anybody. What a great little dog. So sorry to hear you've got to go in the hospital. I do hope there's nothing too serious. They have internet access. It would certainly help the stay go by quicker. I'll watch for you tomorrow night. We gardeners are supposed to be a healthy lot, but we seem to all be falling apart lately.

The local community is building a new sports arena in the shape of a huge whale (novel idea) If I remember rightly the fish market in Rouen was in the shape of a fish. time passes quickly in hospital and you get better food than we do in the UK.
