Poppies & Lollipops (Asiatic Lily) The first to bloom. The poppies managed to seed themselves in amongst these lilies and I left them there. I think they make kind of a happy combination.
I'm especially pleased with this planter. I'm not sure how long it will look good because some of the plants are violas and won't like the hot temps of summer. It seems every time I plant petunias, we have a rainy year. Still these are standing up to the many rain storms we've had rather well. The shot of blue is from lobellia...cheap and cheerful. It's just the bottom of last year's tacky bird bath, but I think it has a sort of old fashioned look that I like.
Finally, I've got a hosta, begonia and lobellia planted together in a planter. It's underplanted with a bit of Japanese Painted
Fern that I took from another spot and Feverfew which of course has seeded itself with wild abandon in my gardens.
This planter is in a shadey spot and I'm pleased with it. I especially like the shock of scarlet red from the begonia.
