This isn't the plant you were supposed to get, that one won't come out of the camera, naughty thing. This is in my garden, but it's frost tender, so probably a houseplant for you. Botanical name would be great.

No idea but I like it, I did wonder about a cycad but the leaves look soft. Is it a palm or a fern?

Polystichum setiferum. "Divisilobum".
or Polystichum aculeatum. "Pulcherrimum"

No, it isn't a Polystichum at all Mammaj. Would you like me to post another picture at a different angle, which will make it a whole lot easier.

I thought as you were nearly there, i would post the second picture anyway. See how much easier it makes it? We like these so much we have three of them. OH has stuck a piece of 'interesting' wood round this one .... who knows why.

I think Mammaj is on to it. It is, (I think), blechnaceae blechnum gibbum.
We had one but it carked it a few months ago. (Edited to fix typo.) |

Looks like it's over to you Bill..well done. What on earth happened to yours that made it cark it ? Ours just grow and grow. (You know what will happen to
ours now i've said that, don't you?)

Robin thinks it was a victim of too much wind. We had it in a largish planter on the end of our veranday and she thinks either they don't like wind or the
wind dried out the pot and it died of thirst. We did of course water it but maybe not enough for the conditions. I was the one that insisted we buy it.
(Unusual in itself, Robin usually does all the selecting.) I saw it in Bunnings Garden Centre and just loved it. Initially it did very well, but from about mid
summer it began to look rather unhappy and just got worse and worse.

Well done Bill, I remember seeing the pic of your plant it was beautiful! I've just bought a small polysticum munitum, shouldn't really look at ferns
but I'm going to keep it in a pot with an xtra large saucer under it & hope for the best! Did you by any chance inspect the roots of your plant?
