This morning I went into the back garden and smelt burning. It smelt like a bonfire. I went into the garage and the smell was stronger so I checked all the electrical appliances but everything seemed to be fine.
I lifted the garage door and suddenly the smell was very strong. It looked like smoke was coming out of my ntl box on the outside wall beside my front door. I looked closer and realised it was my terracotta pot filled with plants that was on fire!
At that point I burst into tears. I can bear most things but deliberate killing of plants really upsets me.
It was then that I recalled the chubb lock. I went into the porch and found some bits that were still on the floor and it wasn't fabric at all, it was dead bees!
I telephoned the police. I must have sounded like some stupid hysterical woman talking about flower pots on fire and bees in chubb locks, but they took me seriously and made a note of all the information and told me an officer would be down within 24-48 hours. They also called the fire brigade to make sure that the fire was put out.
I felt it was a bit of an overkill when the fire engine complete with three firemen turned up at my door. They ripped out the remains of my plants and doused the pot. The whole of the soil was red hot, with burning embers in there.
Needless to say tonight I am going to be on red alert to see if anything else happens.

However it does look rather like you are a victim of circumstances rather than vandals. At least, I certainly hope so.
I always knew you
were unique but to have compost in a flowerpot sponaneously combust is a touch too far.
