I normally hear from Sal two or three times a week with bits of news and telling me where she is staying so that I have a record of it, just in case something horrible happens.

I didn't hear from her for about a week and figured that maybe she was just enjoying herself, and then she sent me a quick email saying she had been ill, but was beginning to feel better.

It was then another week before I heard from her again, and must admit I was getting bothered. She sent me through an email a couple of days ago telling me just how ill she has been, but I wont bother to repeat it all in here because today she has sent through another episode of her journal.

I have just uploaded it so that you can read it for yourselves. If you have been keeping up to date with her journal entries then simply go to the link for 28th June and read on. I must say that this up to now is the best holiday pics and story that's been in RG and I am injoying it keep the good work up sali and keep them coming and both of you take care cause I want to read the lass page when your coming home..

Now the rest of you RG go abroad makes and kiss me quick with your sun hats, just take a leaf out of Sal's book then I might enjoy yours to

Her journal is making great reading, but the last chapter or two does sound rather alarming!

Our Rajasthani nightmare has finally come to an end :-)

A nightmare indeed. There isn't much of Salli at the best of times and this certainly isn't the best of times. I'm so so glad they're comfortable and in clean surroundings and hope and pray that they continue to recover their health and strength.

what a story nearly had me in tears, I hope Sal and Dan will have a speedy recovery and build their health and strength before continuing their journey

I am so enjoying reading about Sal and Dan's trip as Sal writes in a manner that is easy and interesting to read BUT I was upset to read about their ill health and hope they will fully recover very soon . The photos are wonderful and no doubt they have taken many ... hopefully we will get to see more on their return

I don't want to sound an old kill-joy, and maybe it is just due to getting old, but I cannot imagine anything worse than an extended holiday in India. After reading some of Sal and Dan's experiences I can't help thinking, why would anyone voluntarily want to put themselves through all that? The climate is unbearable most of the time, facilities are not up to western standards and neither is the standard of hygiene. OK tell me I have no sense of adventure; I plead guilty to the charge.

Hi guys - thanks so much for all your messages of concern. I'm here to assure you we're both still alive, if not quite actually kicking again yet ;-)

We're heading out of here within the next few days a little further north to Manali and we've decided to treat ourselves to a taxi to avoid a ten hour bus journey!

We always knew Rajasthan was gonna be a tough bit, we're expecting things to be easier from here on in.

Haven't had chance to catch up with the forums for ages, so hope you're all well. Enjoy your gardens for me :-) Be in touch very soon

She does write well, even at deaths door. I knew a little as we keep in contact via e-mail but hadn't realised just how ill they'd been. I've told them they can bunk down with the cats, Charley and Felix if it gets too much
