I love it when these arrive. Then I really know it's summer. This is the Scarce Swallowtail, which is quite common here (but scarce in the UK)

Absolutly fantastic photos.
I've had a peek at your profile and now understand why your seeing things like Humming Bird Moths and Swallow Tails, you're in France! Swallow Tails are from the family 'Papillonidae' which is probably why butterfly in French is papillon. Again you're only likely to see these in the South/East UK.

Love your Swallow Tail piccie, Busy Bee, especially the second one. Yellow and purple, what a combination. Beautiful.'
My Butterfly bush is coming out later in the summer, they are the last ones here to sprout out of the ground in spring . I do have Butterfly flowers though, planted for the first time this year. I have been told to protect them good against our winter climes. So I will do and keep my fingers crossed - all winter long.
