Being a member of the Dorset Wildlife Trust I guess I'm supposed to be interested in all forms of wildlife. I can't say I'm that thrilled about
some of them though but I have managed a few pics.

I think it is a white crab spider but I'm prepared to be corrected.

Having found my tape-measure and established how long 1.5 cm is in real money I think that the caterpillar was
about 3 cm long. Which sounds like it might be a potential moth then. It was sitting on that spiky stuff (please note the technical name) and by the time
we'd finished staring at it it was making its way to the top. Thanks for the suggestions Dave & Kitty, none of our group had any idea of what it might
be and we didn't think it a good idea to bring it home in the hope that it would develop into a butterfly for us.
