The healthy new year I mean. I am doing ok with cutting down on the fatty, unhealthy stuff and am doing much more cooking, rather than takeaways, which I am actually enjoying

I put 4lb on over Christmas, but I'm pleased I've lost 3lb of it already. I just stopped eating the extra sweets, cakes and party food. I'm out and about with Mac a lot of the day, so I'm hoping that will bring off the pounds.

I have 'stalled' at 4 stone !! no matter how much im doing at the gym ect and how little im eating it wont move We worked out that the amount im burning at the gym = 2 days of food a week burnt off so lord knows whats going on !! Im NOT giving up and we are off to the gym in the morning, i do vary it and have added swimming back in so it will get things moving again ![]() |

Dawn if I remember from my fitter days, when I did all different types of exercise, squash, badminton, aerobics, step classes, jogging etc, most of us hit a plateau. It didn't last, so keep your chin up and keep going, it will start falling off you again.

To lose the amount you haver in the period you have been going to the gym etc is incredible I'm not suprised you have hit a plateau, it's normal. I looked at Shirleys link and although it said there is little evidence in it I do believe a change in routine is a good way to kick start again. Muscle has memory.. your body will be getting used to the same routine. Swap a couple of exercises or even change the order you do your current routine. A frien of mine at the gym was experiencing the same just before christmas and this is what they advised her. They also advised us to try a new 'machine' each time at the end of the programmed routine.Keep it up Dawn you are doing brilliantly ![]() ![]() |

Thanks guys, not given up and i have started using the cross trainer and back to swimming as well so that should bump things with any luck
Dont think i have been eating enough so have upped it a little so we will see if that lot helps I wont give up !! no way !!Im looking forward to getting back up the lottie once it starts raining Keep going all ![]() |

NO WAY are you to give up Dawn as you are my inspiration . I have managed to lose 7 lbs since the New Year just by eating more sensibly and trying to do a bit more exercise . I am doing it in conjunction with 2 friends and any week we do not lose we have to pay a penalty of 5 which will go to a local charity .I can't afford 5 too often so I am determined this time especially since my brother has very recently had a stroke .

I'm a bit late starting, but me and OH got stuck in to a calorie controlled diet last week. 400 kcal under requirements, plus aiming to burn 200 kcal per day. Cutting back on the calories is easy, doing the exercise much more difficult in this rotten weather, but anything is better than nothing, I reckon.
I don't have a gym nearby, so it's home made routines for me, stretching, rebounder, walking to start with. When the weather is good, I'll get my bike out. I've already lost half and inch around the middle and f-e-e-l fitter already You gals are my inspiration, so where you lead, I'll follow!Belinda the busy bee

Gym this morning walked 2 miles did 20 mins on the cross trainer and 20 lenghts of the swimming pool plus walked about another mile in town and did some at home on the air walker
Im upping my protein and cutting the carbs this week, still really enjoying it and hope o hit the 5 stone mark very soon Keep going girls its great ![]() |

I find cutting the carbs really difficult as I have to have a packed lunch, and it needs to be something quick and easy (and filling!) to get ready in the mornings...
I end up having whatever I am doing for the kids, which involves bread (sarnies, rolls, wraps or pitta bread with filling), fruit and yoghurt. They get a choccie bar but I don't They do say you shouldn't eat carbs after 4.00pm but when you are cooking for a family that is tooooooooo hard Pens ![]() |
