Lemon Tree
I have a lemon tree about 2feet high. This has flowered and produced about 7 lemons. At the moment it is in the
conservatory but I would like to plant it outside. Is this possible. I live in the South West of England. We occasionally have frost but
not too often. The soil is acidic.
Re: lemon tree
As far as I know Dorothy lemon trees wont tollerate low temps of anysort. I think you will have to keep it as a
container plant and keep it frost free in winter.

re lemon tree
Thanks for the advice Lynn. Didn't think I could plant it out but one never knows!
I have a couple of lemon trees growing in containers. I put them in my conservatory during the winter. However the temp dropped to 2C ovwr
Christmas when I was away.
I came home to find the tree completely dead. I do not think it is a good idea to planr permanently outside if there is even a small risk
of frost.
Sooner or later it will get killed.

Thanks larry. I thought perhaps the lemon tree might do as well as the bouganvillea? which I planted outside with net
protection for any frosts we might get. So far so good! However, I think even my lemon tree is suffering a little as the temp dropped as
you say over Christmas and although it the lemon tree didn't die in my conservatory, it did drop a few of next years fruits! So I think
you and my other lemon tree friend could be right in that they do not like the cold. Thanks.
