Inspired by Saphs photo of a magpie i thought i would post a few shots of one of my favourite birds though not every ones cup of tea. The closer you look at
the bird the more colorful it is. These were taking a few weeks ago.

They are fabulous piccies and you are right about the colour close up, the blue is striking.
 We have lots of them here but I hate the way they raid nests
and eat the spoils in our garden.

Magpies are certainly handsome birds but one has just chased my female blackbird off her nest and taken the eggs!!!!

Very handsome birds but some extremely unpleasant habits. Lovely pictures, though.

Most people just think of them as being a black and white bird as they usually only see them from a distance but they are very striking albeit predators on
ohter birds young.
As yet we don't have any up here in the north of Scotland although I gather they have come up the coast as far as Aberdeen so will no doubt make it along the coast in due course
