The other bird was safe in her cage...shouting "Bad Bird" at the top of her voice! It may be parrot pie for supper tonight.

Oh. Dear Me..... |

I have two African Grey parrots... I've had them for about 18 years. The older female learned how to open
her cage door years ago and both of the birds have substantial locks on their cage doors to prevent wanderings. But this morning I must have forgotten to
fasten the door on the male's cage and when I returned from town there was mayhem! He had climbed up to where we keep the tea caddy, pushed it over and
ripped up all the tea bags, there was tea everywhere. He had then pushed the caddy to the floor smashing it. The tea pot had also received his attentions...wet
tea bags all the floor! He had given the cordless telephone a right pasting...he's always hated it, that had joined the rest of the mess on the floor. Two
egg boxes I had put to one side for composting had been ripped to tiny shreds and scattered around like green confetti and, much more worrying, he had chewed
through the cable to the radio! As I came in he was standing on top of the microwave oven surveying his handywork and whistling a merry tune...

What a wonderful tale....well for me to hear, not so much for the mess you have to clean up. I bet you still love him to bits, even though he is probably the naughtiest parrot in the world at the moment.

Sorry Lottie it is cruel to laugh at your problems ... but to an outsider it is a hilarious tale. I wonder how you make a parrot realise he's been a
bad bird? My sympathies to you as you clear up.

Awwwwwww bless him he thought he was helping you
I came home a few years ago and had a sinking feeling that i had forgotten to put the puppys away in their crate, opened the door VERY slowly and found a cushion shredded, a nearly new box of tissues like snow covering almost the whole room and a slipper (well i think it was a slipper My own fault and all i could do was go outside and laugh before going back in to try to be cross

Oh I did enjoy reading all about your 'grey destroyer' Lottie.
Mind you I wouldn't like to have clean up all the
mess he made.
We used to have a Great Dane and when she was a pup she totally destryoed my daughters bed by shredding the mattress. She'd then decided that a whole box of man-sized tissues would make the room look even better!! I didn't laugh at the time but I can see the funny side of it now. My daughter hated sleeping on an air bed until we got her another mattress and a lock for her door!!

Oh my! I have heard that it's important to keep these birds amused as they become bored quite easily.
I loved the female's comment.
Thank goodness, he wasn't hurt when he chewed threw the radio cord. Certainly pays to have a good sense of humour in a situation like that. Thanks Lottie, you tell a great story!
