I've covered it in sudocrem, but its now starting to ache and sting.
Any advise? (other than the obvious telling off!) :blush

Sunburn :( |

I've been wearing Hattie's factor 50 today, but there must've been a small patch on the back of my shoulders that I didn;t get too, as it is badly
sunburnt and has a few blisters
I've covered it in sudocrem, but its now starting to ache and sting. Any advise? (other than the obvious telling off!) :blush |

I know how you feel Muggs, being a red head I have suffered from sunburn many times. You have my sympathy.

Stick some natural yoghurt on it, that's what a Greek chap recommended my ex husband use when he had the lobster look on holiday there.

... or if you have an Aloe Vera plant cut off a bit, peel back the skin (its not yours) and rub it on the affected part.

The problem is I just can't bear to stay inside! I've only ever blistered once before and that was whilst in Corfu about 15 years ago. Very sore

Hiya, you can take paracetamol for the pain which never occurs to you at the time. I can safely say that I never burn now, for the same reason that peeps who
can't swim never drown, because the don't go near water
I know I only have to look at the sun to burn, fed up to the back teeth with the weather yesterday, I was, far too hot, longed for a good frost. Anyway, back to the point OH asked me tonight if I wanted the sun cream at the
lottie, there was only a very small "v" neck showing
I know you know and don't need telling, but team a vest top with a see through top with long sleeves add a scarf for you neck, then you don't need sun cream

Orrrrrrrrr Muggs how your little paw pawwwwwwwww, when we use to burn our selfs in the kitchen the head chef would make us hold the burnt part over the stove
which he said brings the burn out I think it work cause we never did it a second time cause the first time was bad enough

Scissors always burns once a year. Her lower back as she forgets to cream that bit. Did it this weekend. Like Linda she's pale and interesting.

Pale and interesting
I like that. Its not so much that I don't
want a tan, I just don't go brown, I can do lobster red if that helps with freckles

Sympathies to all you burners from another one. I've given up the sun-cream (too many secondary problems with it) in favour of staying out of the sun.
Just in case you're interested, there is a clothing manufacturer in the UK that gives you a sun-protection rating on many of its items: Rohan. They do mail order, and their clothes last for ever. Here's a women's long-sleeved shirt with high UPF protection. Many of the fabrics are very high-tech, by the way - designed to keep you cool, warm, dry, whatever, and to be washable and quick-drying. Ideal stuff for gardeners as well as travellers, if you think about it.

The best thing you can do to stop sunburn is wear a broad brimmed HAT. Thats what we do in good old OZ. It works.

Ah yes, I used to wear sunhats. Loved them. Unfortunately in the island in summer there's usually something from a still breeze to a gale blowing, which
means that if I can manage to anchor a wide-brimmed hat on my head there's a danger of my taking off.

What you do is get one with a under the chin strap thingy.....like a cowboy hat. That's what we use here...Perth is the third
windiest city in the world. They don't have to look 'daggy' if you get the right hat...mind you, who cares anyway if it stops the sunburn
.....hmmmm don't know about this one though
Edited to say. A hat will also make you feel much much cooler, which is a bonus.

I'm afraid if I wore one of those hats I'll look like Crocodile Dundee Ally! Or worse still a bad imitation of Chips Rafferty

I always wear a hat at the lottie in the sun, and always when I'm on holiday ... just don't think about it when I'm walking around or just sitting
in the garden!
